It had bad reviews a few years ago, but they almost rebuilt it from the ground up and it is pretty smart and fun. It does have a cash shop, but there are always deals running about. Best is the BOGO they had recently. Buy one toon, get another free. It has a comic book feel to it and the mobs and toons trash talk each other all the time. There are lot's of characters to choose from, heroes and villains. Your first character is free and you can buy more with in game credits (took two weeks to get enough for one) or you can pay cash. The benefits come as you level more characters and activate synergies. Bonuses from one toon apply to other toons. You can turn on and off which you like as you see fit. For example, Hulk provides a total of 6% HP. This you might apply to all toons. But on Hulk, I may not want to turn on range damage from Hawkeye as he is melee. But I would turn on Ranged for Cable. You can have a max of ten synergies available for each toon. Bank access is shared, as is the bag and currency. This is probably where you will spend a few bucks. I have been managing the one free and I bought two more for $10. The crafter and enchanter leveling is easy (and is shared). All you do is donate your trash loot to them and it levels up. All kinds of stuff to do. Just doing my 3 dailies can take and 2 hours. Or I dont do any and smash up Midtown with Venom. We have a DDM supergroup (guild) already started. Come join the fun.
